Charlotte SHOUT!
Sept. 17-Oct. 3, 2021 • Uptown Charlotte
Charlotte SHOUT! is a celebration of our city's creativity, diversity, and resilience. It will be a time to unify and restore the heartbeat of our vibrant city. The festival weaves together the extraordinary talents of internationally and locally acclaimed artists, dancers, musicians, poets, storytellers, photographers, chefs and thought leaders. It is a feast for all the senses and all ages, serving up soulful music, tantalizing food, mind-blowing images, playful installations, inspiring performances, and bold ideas.
And yes, the bunnies AND see-saws will be back! A new feature will be Gaia, a huge earth installation.
In addition to talent from around the world, Charlotte SHOUT! also has been actively searching for local artists from all areas of Charlotte's vibrant creative community to participate in this year's festival through platforms called Made in CLT and Of Earth and Sky.
Made in CLT invites creatives to think outside the box ands bring their unique ideas, energy and passion to the festival. The categories for participation include art, music, food and ideas.
Of Earth and Sky is a project aimed to poetically amplify the voices of Charlotte residents. Held each Saturday through May, free workshops will allow poets to learn more about the Of Earth and Sky vision and receive writing prompts to help guide their work. Workshop attendance is not required to submit poems. Poems are submitted by the public and a few will be selected to serve as inspiration for art installations throughout the city. Deadline to submit poems is May 29.
